Another Class Action Dismissed at the Authorization Stage

Woods is proud to have once again succeeded in having an application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action dismissed against its client Videotron G.P., regarding termination fees for business services. The Plaintiff challenged Télébec's and Videotron's practice of imposing contract termination fees and the conditions for renewing fixed-term contracts.

The Honourable André Prévost, s.c.j., in a judgment rendered on September 10, 2019, dismissed the class action against our client Videotron, retaining the main argument presented by our firm that Videotron's customers expressly waived their right to unilateral termination under article 2125 C.C.Q. This is one of our firm's many successes in class action lawsuits in the telecommunications industry.
