Mtre. Alexandre Furino is developing a diversified practice within the firm, revolving around civil and commercial litigation, as well as arbitration and insolvency. He has participated, amongst others, in complex professional and D&O liability cases, contractual disputes, competition and construction litigation matters. In addition, he has acted and currently acts in various litigation matters in the field of divided co-ownership (condominiums), where he represents the Syndicate of co-ownership or co-owners. Alexandre has a particular interest for the field of professional ethics, more specifically conflicts of interests, as well as civil and commercial mediation.
While completing his legal studies at the University of Ottawa, he worked as a student-at-law at the Department of National Defence, the Privy Council Office, and the Garda Security Group Inc.
Alexandre also completed the Common Law National Program at the University of Ottawa, thus obtaining the diploma of Juris Doctor (JD).
Alexandre is an accredited mediator by the Quebec Bar, in civil, commercial and employment matters. He is also accredited by the Quebec Bar as a mediator in the Small Claims division of the Court of Québec.
Acted for McCarthy Tétrault, successfully defending a Motion in disqualification brought forth in a litigation matter where McCarthy Tétrault represented Hydro-Québec.
Member of the team formed by the firm for the representation of Chrysler Canada Inc. in the major professional liability suit against Coopers & Lybrand, in the context of the Castor Holdings saga.
Acted for Vidéotron s.e.n.c., successfully defending a Motion for a provisional interlocutory injunction presented by Bell Canada in order to force Vidéotron to cease the diffusion of publicities that were namely aired during the 2015 National Hockey League playoffs.
Represents the Syndicat des copropriétaires de VUE Phases I et II in two proceedings instituted against the developer and Group Canvar Inc. for latent defects, faulty design and construction defects.
Represents the Syndicat Condos Rêve in a proceeding instituted against the developer and various professionals and sub-trades for latent defects, faulty design and construction defects.
Represents the Syndicat des copropriétaires Le Riviera in a proceeding instituted against the developer and various professionals and sub-trades, as well as their officers and directors, for latent defects, faulty design and construction defects, and damages;
Represents the Syndicat des copropriétaires Lowney 10 in a proceeding instituted by a co-owner against the developer and the Syndicate for latent defects, faulty design and construction defects;
Represents syndicates of co-ownership for various strategic files and questions related to litigation and/or management of the co-ownership;
Represents co-owners in various files and disputes involving the syndicate of co-ownership, the developer and other parties, as well as other co-owners;
Construction G.M.R. inc. v Michon, 2017 QCCS 5081 : Acted in this matter and succeeded in obtaining the dismissal of an action in warranty launched against our firm’s clients, Développement Rescom et its administrator, real estate developers, and of the principal action.
