In 2012, Mtre. Alex Dobrota joined the Woods team after having evolved during several years within a national firm. He practices mainly in the fields of commercial litigation, international commercial arbitration, bankruptcy and insolvency law, restructuring companies, and recovery of debts.
In 2010, he graduated from McGill University with bachelors in civil law and common law. Prior to studying and practicing law, he wrote for a national newspaper as a parliamentary correspondent and foreign correspondent. He traveled worldwide through his assignments and reporting, in particular to Afghanistan, where, in 2007, he covered the Canadian military mission in Kandahar Province.
Represents the monitor in the CCAA proceedings relative to the Montreal Maine & Atlantic Railway.
Represented financial institutions and other lenders in the context of recovery of debts from insolvent debtors.
Represented insolvent companies in the context of restructuring files.
Involved in various disputes over the law of sales, manufacturers' liability, and service contracts.
Represented a large Canadian corporation in the context of an arbitration with its suppliers.
